CENTER-BASED SERVICES

In this format, Kadiant provides your family with an educational consultant to develop and oversee your child’s educational program. In addition, Kadiant will provide a senior aide and a team of aides to implement the daily curriculum for your child.

This service format provides you with a team working together, in close communication, with a high frequency of consultation. Center-based services allow the educational consultant of your child’s behavioral education program to closely monitor your child’s rate of progress, his/her learning style, and make necessary changes to facilitate the acquisition of skills. This occurs as a result of frequent direct contact with your child and the additional benefit of close communication with the center-trained senior aide and aides. The senior aide provided to your family is experienced and qualified to handle the daily needs of your child’s behavioral education program. The senior aide maintains a close working relationship with your child’s educational consultant and prepares data for discussion with your consultant at regularly scheduled team meetings. The instructional aides provided by Kadiant go through an intensive training process upon being hired and are well able to implement the one-to-one teaching methods of your child’s behavioral educational curriculum.

A critical component of any behavioral education program is the inclusion of regular team meetings. Team meetings occur bi-weekly or monthly, depending on the needs of the child. During team meetings, all members of the behavioral education team, including all family members/caregivers, are present to discuss the child’s progress and make program updates. Additionally, to provide ongoing training/skill development opportunities and to ensure the consistency of program implementation, behavioral education programs are demonstrated during team meetings, by all team members, with feedback provided by your consultant.

COMPONENTS OF CENTER-BASED SERVICES

DIRECT SERVICES

  • Regular Team Meetings
  • Kadiant provides Educational Consultant and behavioral education team (Senior Instructional Aide and Instructional Aides
  • IEP/IFSP/IPP Meeting Attendance: a Kadiant consultant may assist in direct participation in meetings (e.g., IEP, IFSP, and IPP) used to assist in the development of appropriate educational goals. Upon request, Kadiant will generate a draft of individualized goals and objectives that can be used to assist in the development of appropriate goals and objectives by the IEP team. Kadiant staff will also participate in IEP/IFSP/IPP meetings upon parent request.

INDIRECT SERVICES

  • Document Generation: a written report summarizing the child’s educational curriculum, his/her current skill level, and further teaching recommendations is provided. Reports are generated on a quarterly basis for Center-Based clients.
  • Phone/Video/Email Consultation: this review of educational programs via phone/video/email consultation by a Kadiant consultant is designed to assist in program development. This service is additionally used for other programming purposes (e.g., direct observation without observer bias and to assist in data collection and data analysis, etc.).
  • Logbook Review: Kadiant staff may need to conduct a review and analysis of the logbook notes/data to assist in program development and ongoing training of staff development.

CONSULTATION-BASED SERVICES

In this format, a consultant from Kadiant is assigned to develop and oversee your child’s program. Your family will hire the team of behavioral educational aides working directly with your child. Your Kadiant consultant will provide training for you and your team in the Applied Behavior Analysis techniques designed to most effectively teach your child.

Your Kadiant consultant will assess areas of learning which are difficult for your child. S/he will then modify the teaching situation to help your child overcome stumbling blocks encountered in the learning process. It is important when receiving consultation-based services to maintain a consistent and frequent schedule of consultation. Frequent consultation allows your educational team to quickly address any problems or stumbling blocks that may arise.

To gain maximum benefit, your Kadiant consultant should have regular contact with you, in the form of indirect consultation via phone or email, between visits to discuss your child’s progress. Families receiving more frequent direct consultation would require less indirect consultation between visits while families receiving less frequent direct consultation would require more frequent indirect consultation between visits. Whatever your needs, our consultation service plan is flexible and will be designed by your consultant and your family to meet the needs of your child.

COMPONENTS OF CONSULTATION-BASED SERVICES

DIRECT SERVICES

  • Follow-Up Consultations: After the initial consultation, your family will be seen on a regular basis by your consultant. During these follow-up consultations, your child’s progress is assessed in the home and school settings, progression of skill development is discussed, teaching methods are modified as necessary to facilitate learning, ongoing training and skill development for parents and staff is provided, and changes made to the educational curriculum are demonstrated and practiced.

SCHOOL-BASED SERVICES

Because Kadiant is certified by the California Department of Education (CDE) as a non-public agency (NPA), upon request, we will provide an instructional team to work with your child within their school environment.  Instructors will work one-to-one with your child in the classroom, in collaboration with the school team, to ensure your child is able to access the educational curriculum within the least restrictive environment. Full inclusion services may be considered for all children.

TESTIMONY-RELATED SERVICES

WITNESS PREPARATION

Preparation includes phone consultation with attorneys and/or advocates, face-to-face meetings with attorneys and/or advocates, review of documents, and document generation.

PRESENCE AT MEDIATIONS AND/OR FAIR HEARINGS

Upon request by the family, a Kadiant staff member will be present and will participate in a mediation and/or Fair Hearing.

ASSESSMENTS

BEHAVIORAL OBSERVATION AND SKILL ASSESSMENT

The Behavioral Observation and Skill Assessment is based on a combination of interviews with care-givers, review of pertinent records, direct observations, assessments of developmental norms, and when necessary, Comprehensive Functional Assessments, and/or Functional Analysis Assessments (this process is outlined in further detail below). This assessment is necessary to identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses across domain areas and for the development of your child’s Individualized Behavioral Education Plan (IBEP).

FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENT

This assessment is a necessary tool in the process of determining the functions (reasons) for challenging behaviors (e.g., aggression, tantrums, self-injurious behaviors, etc.) and is used to determine appropriate and functional interventions. Comprehensive Functional Assessments may include a review of pertinent records, interviews, completion of survey instruments, direct observations of behaviors and/or functional analysis. A functional analysis involves the arrangement of brief exposures to different environmental contingencies, while measuring the behavior directly to get information about controlling variables. Functional Analyses are incorporated into Functional Assessments as necessary.
